Alternatives to Traditional Schools
Alternatives to Traditional Schools
For me, unschooling is increasingly about doing things our way, with choice and freedom. It doesn’t mean no ‘schooling’, it means we understand that there is a freedom of choice.
The problem is that society is generally not given a choice. Whether you go to a private or state/government school you are generally expected to follow their rules with a much outdated approach and curriculum.
To unschool, is to explore all the different options and choose one that works for you. If one doesn’t exist, then either create one, or just do your own thing.
Whilst it is inspiring to see other people build up different models of learning and education, it can be overwhelming and hard to find a central resource. . I know I’ve been disappointed to come across interesting or new models so late in my journey, so I am researching what I can and making my notes here.
